Red Flag Day.

I walk through the torrential rain, looking more like I've been for a fully clothed swim than to the local shops. An ice cream van drives past, splashing me in a wave of puddle water. The van cheerily playing 'I do like to be beside the sea side' on it's loudspeaker.

I think...

Someone, somewhere, is mocking me.

I hope you got out of the rain quick Heather. Sometimes things just have a habit of looming up at you like that don't they? Ice-cream vans in the rain. You capture the scene so well.

I think someone is sending you coded messages via ice cream vans. "I do like to be beside the seaside" is obviously trying to tell you that you will shortly be meeting a tall dark handsome and curly haired stranger.

Beware the ice cream van playing "How much is that doggy in the window?"

We're still getting ice cream vans in November, too. In the dark and the cold.

I think Greensleeves is my favourite ice cream van tune. Imagine Henry VIII eating a 99. Getting it in his beard and everything.

He'd throw the cone in the fire as well.

I remember there was an ice cream van depot up near my mate's house when I was a kid. It always felt so sad, seeing all those vans locked up in rows, denied the chance to delight those very people who had shut them away for the winter months. It sounds like some of them got loose... and they're out for revenge!

At this time of year in the Great White North it is usually too cold out for ice cream vans to 'start' never mind putter about and sell ice cream..HA!..ice cream...sorry, but you're absolutely right that was ironic.

How could such an insensitive bastard be allowed to deal with the public..hey wait a minute... who buys ice cream when it is pouring out anyway?
I think that it was a disguised MI5 operative tailing you..
been selling a few state secrets have we???
